ACHIEVEMENTS OF WBA
  • Members of WBA have adopted new methods of bee keeping like intensive caring, colony multiplication and many others.
  • All members are aware of the importance of keeping bees like for pollination, source of income, food (honey) and others.
  • Local resources are now utilized, wood is used for making hives, and vacant land is used for keeping bees.
  • Teamwork is realized among members since most of the agriculture work is done as a group.
  • Members have resorted to commercial beekeeping methods and Top bars are intensively used.

PROBLEMS FACED BY THE PROJECT
  • Limited literature especially bee keeping books, CDs and Charts.
  • A lot of communities far from the project area also need training yet the resources are limited.
  • Lack of funds. Most of the members are peasant farmers they can't buy professional gears like gloves, suits, veils, smokers and extractors.
  • In areas where bees are endangered, WBA doesn't have hives to install in such areas to act as demos for the community members. This very important because such community members they completely don't know the art of beekeeping practice.

However other challenges have been dealt with like;
-  We established a routine checkup on every member’s apiary and we give advise and keep records.
-  We have concentrated on constructing our own Top bar Hives from the scrap wood that we buy from newly constructed houses in the town. This has helped members to save because at the beginning, we bought Top bar hives which was expensive for us.
-   We have tried very much to use literature on bee keeping from the internet, however, more formal and up to date literature is needed.
